Make every inch of a quilt jaw-dropping with Judi Madsen’s book on secondary quilting. Featuring unique, modern quilting designs with complete piecing instructions, this book takes an extensive look at Judi’s creative process as she discusses each of her quilts. Included are plenty of examples of Judi’s own style of secondary quilting, step-by-step instructions making for easy execution of each quilting design, and a CD featuring full-size, downloadable quilting patterns for all quilts plus two extra quilts with piecing and quilting instructions.
A fantastic book! This is the first time I have read a pattern book from start to finish instead of just looking at the eye catching photos. There are so many things to love about this book. From the precise piecing instructions including which way to press the seams to the detailed piecing photos, the hand drawn photos of Judi’s design process to the photos of the actual quilt on the frame with the designs drawn on, and the straight forward & easy to follow quilt paths shown to recreate the quilting on your own without having to figure it out. These are just a few of many great teachings found in this book. One of the features I love the most was at the very beginning of the book where Judi shows where she started with her quilting & how she has improved. This gives me confidence that with time & practice, my quilting skills will grow & improve too. To me, this is the best quilt pattern book on the market & so worth your money! (Posted on 4/4/17)
Secondary Designs with Judi Madsen is a hands-on resource for intermediate to advanced quilters. The focus is upon secondary designs that enliven the empty spaces of the quilt’s primary design. Step-by-step instructions and vivid, easy-to-follow color diagrams guide the quilter through a wealth of beautiful secondary quilting designs. Author Judi Madsen also discusses the creative process, and the importance of harmonizing the secondary design with the primary design. A Windows and Mac compatible CD-ROM of patterns rounds out is excellent addition to quilting and needlecraft shelves. (Posted on 1/18/17)
